As a graphic designer I have used Pantone books for many years (they really don't need replaced as often as they tell you - as you guessed). They are really wonderful and necessary. I know they have fabric swatches and plastics swatches and if I had tons of money I'd buy them just because they are so cool... but I can imagine that if you get into the business they would be a necessary tool like the printed book is for graphics people. It takes the guesswork out of talking color with people anywhere in the world. I would guess it would be a necessary business expense that you could write off. This is such a great blog, I don't know where you find the time to generate all that you do, but it's awesome!
