Thank you, thank you for this post. Although it made me lose my appetite, I'm grateful to you for the information. And no, I will not get any money for saying that. I "endorse" products all the time, but not for monetary gain. One blog post (like today's, for instance) could have ten or more individual endorsements! I get no money for these; I just like the products/services, and tend to follow a "credit where credit's due" policy. So to mention, each and every time, that I do NOT get money for anything I endorse, except my own art, is going to be a big pain. Unless I'm misunderstanding it. Maybe a footer that says, "Unless stated otherwise, I'm just a wordy, gushy, 'OMG I LOVE THIS' writer. I get NO money for blabbing!" Oh and I Zazzle too. Yikes. But really, thanks again for blogging about it. I wouldn't have known otherwise!

Alyice, hmm... I like that. It might not be specific enough if they do a through check but I'd have to read all the 81 pages without zoning out... :) What would you put if you got a free product for review? Like a printer or a book or free dinner at a restaurant? With the new rules it would need to be disclosed but could also be done with finess... thank you for the comment!

I usually include a small blurb that says "your purchase supports this blog" under sponsor ads or amazon affiliate books, like you see here: http://www.alyiceedrich.com/

I wonder if the FCC will make it more complicated than this.

Tara, this is extremely interesting! Thank you for publishing this.

As a blogger, I didn't decide yet if I will start affiliate programs ads, which I may...

But, as a Zazzle seller, they have an affiliate program as well! Every seller can get an affiliate number and add it to any URL of other seller's store or product, receiving comission if someone buy after using the link. This can be in free text, no need for banners/images or anything... And the Zazzlers are going crazy with that, and with Squidoo Lens to promote stores, products, and each other. I wonder how this new ruling will affect it all...

And another note, what about international sites/blogs? Living and hosting in Canada, would I have to fall under these regulations for products I promote from the USA?

Thanks
Moshe
