Do you have a published book or book idea? Would you like to sell by the thousands?

Every other Tuesday morning, I hop on a Mastermind call with a group of entrepreneurs from a variety of backgrounds. Social media experts, speakers, gym owners and more… we discuss what we are doing, what we are stuck with and help and inspire each other. One member of my group is Ted Rogers and what he does really intrigues me – I so want to figure out how to add this to my business and you might too!

What if you could stop selling your book? Most authors sell their books in single copies – or rely on their publisher to do it. You could stop selling your book if you sold huge quantities in a single sale. What if you could ask us a question about how to sell large quantities of your book then listen for the answer?

Ted and his partner, Vickie Mullins know the secrets of selling books by the thousands in a single sale.

As bestselling authors, they guide other authors and publishers through the Special Market Sales process. Through their company, Perfect Bound Marketing, they create Special Market Sales and strategic campaigns selling massive amounts of books yet allowing authors to retain higher margins of profit.

My friend Ted Rogers has had amazing success with selling his books and wants to share the secrets and insights that he uses. On November 3rd he and his partner Vickie Mullins will be grilled by publishing expert Terry Whalin’s where they’ll answer any and all questions during their live teleseminar on Mastering Massive Book Sales and I thought you might like to join them.

Here is the link to sign up and I encourage you to ask them a question. Also, when you sign up you’ll receive free of charge the 26 Steps and Secrets to Book Selling Success.

If you have a book or thinking about or in the process of writing your book… you need to join them on November 3rd at 8:00 PM Eastern. I’ll be on the call – will you?

Do you get Art Licensing Audio Mail?

Do you like to learn in small bites? One concept a week – to really think about it, review it, and absorb it? That’s what the Art Licensing Mindset Series is designed to do.

I’ve received a few emails recently saying how much artists are appreciating the weekly reminders – many save the audios and listen to them again.  So I thought I’d take a minute and remind you that this resource is out there if you are interested!

The Art Licensing Mindset Series is a 24 week program, delivered to your inbox every 7 days.

Using a snow globe analogy for your comfort zone, week 1 will have you look at 22 skills and mindsets that will help you succeed in licensing. Each topic is then covered, 1 / week for the next 22 weeks.

Each week you will get ideas and information, as well as suggested “to do”s to help you start using the concept discussed.

At the end of the 24 weeks, hopefully your comfort zone has expanded and you are more comfortable and confident with everything from creating art to talking contracts, dealing with deadlines and lots more in between.

As well as 3 – 5 minute audios you can listen to while you create, PDF transcripts are available for each skill so you can go back and refer to them time and again.

For only $1 a week, how can you resist? ($24 total)

Art Licensing Story – Heidi Gray updates her journey

Heidi Gray, of Heidi Gray Designs, just sent me an updated Art Licensing Story video.  She really talks about the process she went through from concept to contact – take a look!

P.S.  Here is her original video if you want to see her first entry…

Thanks for the update Heidi!  Here’s to your creative success!

– Tara Reed

P.P.S. Anyone who submits a video will receive a $20 coupon good towards eBooks, teleseminars (live or replays) or Ask Call Replays from ArtLicensingInfo.com as a way of saying “Thank you for sharing!”

When can I expect to see your story?

For all the details or to see all the stories submitted to date, click the “Stories” tab at the top of the blog or go to http://artlicensingblog.com/stories/

The Art Licensing Blog has the #1 spot on Google!

And I couldn’t be more excited! Well… I’m also excited that the hub website, www.ArtLicensingInfo.com goes between #3 and 4 – not to shabby to have two websites in the top 5!

“How did you do that?” many people have asked.  Here’s what I think…

1.  Consistent content that speaks to the industry and keywords – art licensing

2.  Social proof that the content is good, by others linking to it. (thank you!)

3. Good SEO habits.  SEO is short for Search Engine Optimization – there are things you can do to increase your chances of moving to page 1 of Google – or your search engine of choice. (Yahoo, Bing, DogPile, etc.)  If you have a website, that should always be a goal.  When people search, they often look at options on page 1 & 2, rarely on p. 20…

So what are good SEO habits and how can you get them?

A few that I employ are adding tags to blog posts, keywords to website pages, titles that make sense and sometimes include keywords.  The most important thing to do is create good content of course.

You can learn more about SEO by registering to get the mp3 replay of my call with Daniel Tardent, at www.AskAboutSEOforArtists.com.  Daniel is the author of an eBook – SEO for Artists – which I purchased and implemented before doing the Ask Call with him.  This only helped me with my search engine rankings.

Who are you? Please take this 1 question poll

So the other day, a friend was asking me who reads my blog.  “Artists interested in licensing.” I replied. (Duh? right?)

“Yeah, but what kind of artists and at what level?  Are 90% of them just hearing about the concept and wanting basic info or are 50% there?  How many artists who are actually licensing their work – and making money at it – look at your blog?”

Good question!  SO… will you help me answer it?

Thanks so much for your input!

Did you hear Paul Brent’s trade show prep advice last night?

Paul Brent prepared a great presentation entitled, Ten Ways to Prepare For Your Upcoming Art Licensing Trade Show.

I’m motivated to sit down and rethink my plan – making sure my show experience is the best it can be!

In addition, he weighed in on the following questions:

  • How much art do I need for my first art licensing show and how much time do I need to plan for the show?
  • What should I bring for manufacturers to see?
  • What size art do you show?  Do you take originals or prints?
  • How do you design your booth and where do you find the things you need?
  • Can you be an attendee at a show the first year and still find licensees? How well do characters do at SURTEX?
  • Does all art for licensing have to use trendy colors?
  • What experience do you look for when hiring a graphic designer?
  • How do you create collections – what is your process?

In addition to the hour-long audio, if you order the replay of Paul’s call, you will also receive a 3 page outline with his Ten Ways to Prepare and notes included!

An amazing deal for $25 but you only have to pay $15 if you buy it before 10/30!  NOTE:  If you purchase the audio, the link opens and plays online.  To save the audio to your computer – right click and choose “Save as Source” or “save to…” or whatever save option your computer gives you…

The feedback to the live call was amazing – here is what some people said:

“The hour flew by. I’m glad to have had the chance to be there!”

“Thank U Paul! it’s nice 2 be in the presence of GREATNESS!”

“Thanks, Tara.  Paul’s session was excellent with great information for everyone. Experience is STILL the best teacher!”

“Again it was another great session with lots of useful information.  I keep expecting the session to be a “heard that before” and each time you surprise me with new info that gets my creative and marketing juices flowing.  Thanks for all that you share!”

Do you get the Art Licensing Info eNewsletter?

Twice a month, I send out an eNewsletter to any artist interested in art licensing who signs up.  You may get a lot of junk mail and think any eNewsletter will be more of the same, so I thought I’d take a moment to tell you a little bit more about it.  But first… let me share an email I just received from Christine Marsh that really put a smile on my face:

Terrific Tara,

This was so full of incredibly incredibly solidly useful information.
WOW!  I am impressed.
I have canceled most of my newsletter because of a desire for wiser time usage, but I keep yours coming because it is so fabulous!

Thank You!!!

Any email that starts with “Terrific Tara” will get my attention – who doesn’t want to be called terrific? ;) But I was happy to see that Christine is enjoying the information I send.

The eNews is basically a quick resource of links to many things art licensing.  Every month you get information in the following categories -

  • ASK CALLS | what is on the calendar
  • ON THE BLOG | what’s been going on
  • OTHER THINGS OF INTEREST | from blogs and websites
  • FINAL INSPIRATION | a quote to keep the creative juices flowing

As well, I may throw in a special promotion only for those artists who get and actually open the eNewsletter.  New product or event announcements, etc.  The newsletter goes out the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month and you can sign up right here if you aren’t already on the list!

How did you find us?

If you ever decide you don’t want to get the newsletter anymore – no worries!  There is always a “cancel” link at the bottom of each eNewsletter.

P.S.  Here are all the places you can learn more about Christine Marsh – she deserves a little “link love” for her kind words!

http://christinemarsh.com/
http://christinemarsh.net/
http://www.marshbodyart.com/
http://www.zazzle.com/Beautiful_Things

P.P.S.  Don’t know what “link love” is?  You should get the free SEO for Artists with Daniel Tardent audio replay – head to www.AskAboutSEOforArtists.com to get your copy!

P.P.S.S. The opt-in link you will need to click to confirm your subscription is through 1ShoppingCart.com – the service I use to handle the free email list, product sales, and affiliate program.  It really is free so let’s not freak out and send me hate mail like the one below – I imagine something else is going on with this person because it seemed a bit hostile for an eNewsletter response! (And I don’t appreciate the attack on my integrity thank you very much! :) )

I’m responding to the subscription that I thought I was getting for free, instead the link leads to a shopping cart? You have a lot of nerve to waste my time trying to sell me something when I thought I was getting a free subscription to your newsletter. This is called false advertising and I’m not falling for it. That speaks volumes about your own business and integrity.
