Women in Leadership

Here’s an interesting video about women in leadership… communication, emotional intelligence and initiative were three areas Harvard Business Review noted women to often excel above men.  (I also love the way this video is done – I’m in awe of the process as much as the message – maybe I need a white board!)

I was once asked if I thought being a woman was a detriment or something to overcome in art licensing – the question actually surprised me.  I’ve never felt that my gender affected my success in my business and the more I thought about it the more I realized just how many women are in this business – both on the artist and manufacturing side of things.  Not that there aren’t amazingly talented and fabulous men too – don’t get me wrong.  As women, we are fortunate to work in a field where the cards aren’t stacked against because, well, we wear bras.

This is not to say that we shouldn’t be professional and always strive to better at what we do – all of us.  Improving our communication skills will never be a bad thing.  Understanding where others are coming from (emotional intelligence) will always be an asset.  Since many of us are solopreneurs, we need to possess these skills within ourselves.  (Or look for these attributes in our agents!)

Today I encourage you to take a look at this video and think about what it can mean to you and your business… here’s to your creative success!

One Response to Women in Leadership

  • Hi,
I very much agree with this article, as we all know women play a very important role in the fields of business, homes etc. and they are in no way inferior to men. They can do each and every thing that a man can do in any field. She took care from their home to their business extremely greatly. I’ve a canvas print photo of very large dimension of flowers and I used to hang it over the wall of my living room it looks so attractive and it gives modern touch to my home and i used to do it from http://www.magnipic.com/.
